Follow-up Comment #9, bug #55613 (project octave):

Yes, we require bison 3.0 or newer, and we do still look at stderr even with
the patch I have worked up, I did not need to drop that as I originally
thought. Basically, nothing has changed in what we check for or what we
require, the only change is adding a new option to the bison command line to
silence the new warnings.
