Thanks, that explnation helps.
I tried with Octave-4.4.1 (current release) and 5.0.0 (dev version) and I
cannot reproduce this bug with .m files in e.g.,
"C:\Users\philip\MyDocs\My eBooks"
Please upgrade to 4.4.1, try again and report back.
