(1) The description para. at the bottom seems to have gone missing.  Perhaps
this needs to be added to the file:

or whatever else you guys see fit. (the code and algo. is completely new, but
I maintained KH's original format.)


(2) I still have the revordinal method in my personal copy  (and my original
submission included it). If you guys ever want to add it to octave's ranks, I
will happily supply the code again.

(3) Perhaps ranktype could validaestring from   roptions = {"fractional",
"competition", "modified", "ordinal", "revordinal"}. That's what I have done
in my personal file.
