It's more than just sh, though. The grep, sed, and awk in /bin are all very
broken compared to modern (post 1985) variants. The xpg4 test is pretty simple
– if /usr/xpg4/bin exists, put it in front of $PATH and forget about writing
Solaris workarounds. This is how I've been dealing with Solaris for well over
a decade, and it Just Works.
