Well if that can be a consolation, ngl CVS fails on Debian Sid here also,
with a different error:

libtool: link: unable to infer tagged configuration
libtool: link: specify a tag with `--tag'
make[2]: *** [libngl.la] Error 1

Given how much I hate autocrap and it's evil sidekick libtool, I won't
look further.

Also, gcc 3.x as found on Debian sid 1-2 months ago was a bit broken
(ICEing a lot), so either bootstrap your own or use the latest package..
