Details:
By chance my mail server that was supposed to receive notifications of
finished emails did not operate correctly. (It segfaulted ;-) )
I did a strace of mldonkey and apparently there is no timeout when contacting
a mail server which results in mldonkey being deadlocked waiting for it.
I fixed the mail server and restarted it resulting in mldonkey continuing
execution immediately. (I could see it waiting for the socket in strace but
this confirms the diagnostics.)
