could you test newer versions? i couldn't reproduce this with newer versions
on linux and on windows.
however something similar might happen when encountering savannah bug #9427 ,
but at least some chunks should be corrtly downloaded an verified even with
that bug...

yep the missing visual feedback is an anoying thing...
