Some networks (i.e. Gnutella) have known memory leaks, here RAM usage is stable.

Platform Version: Linux
Binaries Origin: CVS / Self compiled
CPU type: None

Summary: mldonkey is now a memory hog

Original Submission: I used to have mldonkey running in a box with 64MB, and
had no problems even with thousands of sources. But since the last releases,
the memory usage of mldonkey grows beyond bounds.

Right now its sucking 90% of a 512 MB box with less than 1000 sources and 3
days of uptime, and therefore I suspect a memory leak.

One user on the german forum reported 90MB stable RAM usage during 7 days with
2.5-16m which included patch 2806, so please try a patched version or the most
current version which ATM is 2-5-20.

Please try this patch:

One user reported on MLDonkey world that the core uses less memory with this
patch.

i also have 512mb memory but mldonkey uses only 4%.

though mlnet does seem to have a slight leak it doesnt pass 10% for me even
after long runs ( a month ).

check that setting relating to memory are propely set.
compaction_overhead shoudld be set low ( i use 5 default is 25 ),
use_file_history and save_file_history should be off, for example.

if you use mlgui on the same machine you might notice that it eats more memory
then mlnet.
