I worry about helping our (ORA) co-authors to build the thing if we have
to track a CVS release... we should either make bootstrapped CVS
snapshots of M4 for their benefit whenever there is a significant change
in the code or build process, or else support a blessed Automake alpha
release too.
I have no objections to using a development branch of CVS M4 to test CVS
Automake if that is easier for you though...
