I didn't really intend for
http://www.flora.org/lynx-dev/html/month042000/msg00133.html
to be a bunch of rhetorical questions.
Lynx compiled with the --without-charsets option, or with a --with-charsets=
list has broken CJK handling.
You can get nearly as small a binary and still have CJK support using the
following approach, for whomever might be interested:
