Hello, Lyncei,
I have long had my editor defined as:
$EDITOR
This was nice; it tracks whatever editor is my whim at the
moment. In fact, I have a .profile that sets EDITOR to
"dtpad" if I'm on an X11 workstation; else to "vi". This
worked at least through 2.8.1dev.21. Now, it's failing with:
HTParse: result:/home/pg/public_html/STK.links/bookmarks.html
PARAM-ADD:'$EDITOR'
PARAM-ADD:'$EDITOR' /home/pg/public_html/STK.links/bookmarks.html
PARAM-END:'$EDITOR' /home/pg/public_html/STK.links/bookmarks.html
LYEdit: '$EDITOR' /home/pg/public_html/STK.links/bookmarks.html
^MHTuncache.. freeing document for
'file://localhost/home/pg/public_html/STK.links/bookmarks.html'
getfile: getting
file://localhost/home/pg/public_html/STK.links/bookmarks.html
$EDITOR is being quoted rather than evaluated, most likely because of:
1998-12-26 (2.8.2dev.12)
* modify LYEdit.c to use HTAddParam - TD
Is this a necessary security feature? I certainly don't
find it an improvement in function.
