Ok I have made some headway in understanding the code. From a top to 
bottom perspective, here goes :

    1. Need to add a checkbox to parameters.ui and the corresponding 
handler in propertybox.c
    2. Need to add a field to LinphoneCore (_LinphoneCore) struct for 
holding the status and other            configuration information for 
Avahi SD
    3. Add the discovery mechanism code to liblinphone
