Hi Jack,
Your mail would be readable more easily if the mailer wouldn't insert
URLs everywhere -- is there a way to turn that off, together with HTML
encoding maybe? Thanks.

Try LDFLAGS instead of LD_FLAGS:
./configure LDFLAGS=-L/mkl_lapac/dir
make
