I saw this too on an OSR5.0.6 box, and in the course of investigating it I
backed up along the HEAD branch by a few days and then forward again and it
mysteriously disappeared! Try `bootstrap; make maintainer-clean; bootstrap'
and see if this fixes it for you.
If not, I'd be interested in more details, though I suspect it may be some
anomally in cvs update rather than an actual libtool breakage...
