Which version of nano are you using? Because since version 3.2, nano reads
the rc files (/etc/nanorc and the user's .nanorc) also in restricted mode.
Which means that syntax coloring ought to be wroking.
Did you maybe compile nano yourself? If yes, then closely read what is
printed at the end of running ./configure (since version 5.0).
