Add it to thingatpt.el, if you really believe it's welcome. (This isn't be the first time this and similar have been offered.) Just drop the `tap-' prefix in both places. (defun tap-bounds-of-number-at-point () "Return the bounds of the number represented by the numeral at point. Return nil if none is found." (and (number-at-point) (tap-bounds-of-thing-at-point 'sexp)))
