Why the ' ?
Try this regexp: "^[Bb]uild.*\\.log$"
That means: Starts with B or b followed by uild and then zero or more
arbitrary characters and ends with .log
(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("^[Bb]uild.*\\.log$" . compilation-mode))
