Adapting jka-compr-insert-file-contents for detecting .gz files and using zlib-decompress-region (if available) instead of calling gzip would add ugliness to an already hairy function. I'll add --without-compress-install to the MSYS2 build instead. Having gzipped sources and info files on MS Windows are not all that convenient anyway.
