Correct, I'm using Emacs in "the console" (the Linux VTs, or tty:s). I
think I said that but maybe I didn't, or perhaps not clear
enough. Anyway, I didn't know that the terminal (or terminal emulator
in X) had an impact on this, but now that you say it, it makes
sense. I don't think it is worth the effort to patch the kernel just
for this; I'll find another keystroke to do the job. Thanks for the
clarification on this, and on the Gnus/mail-list issue.
