I would recommend escreen - it is far more convenient than using frames (unless
you have multiple monitors and REALLY want to see two separate full-sizes emacs
frames). I really don't know why it isn't a part of Emacs (but I don't have the
latest release so perhaps it is now?).
escreen doesn't give you side-by-side sessions, but even though I use multiple
monitors I have never been tempted to use frames - escreens does everything I
need.
