Power and ease of use are mutually contradictory.I think rather they are orthogonal. You have to learn things to be able to use the power, but is not that a different thing? No.
That was a very short explanation ;-)
What you have to learn is not directly related to the power. It can be, but it is not necessarily so. You can (sometimes) write a command very carefully and make it easier for the users - without giving them less power.Power means flexibility. Flexibility means many different buttons and switches, which cannot be easy.
Yes, I understand what you mean, but I do not agree. It is both easy and hard to explain what I mean - it depends kind of how you are listening. Let me try a (rather) short explanation.
Maybe I can say that it is about organizing things creatively. Math is one example. It can be very easy to use, but inventing some parts of it was not. The power is at the hand of both skilled and unskilled users (some of them making bridges, aeroplanes and atom bombs). They get that power from the seed planted with creative thinking about some seemingly difficult problems. That seed growed up as math.
You do not have to be a genius to use math, but the invention of it was surely an amazing thing.
Math is a powerful tool for thinking. Yet it can be very easy to use. The secret behind that is the organizing of thinking that math made possible.
