With Emacs built from CVS, this configuration slows down emacs to the point where it's near unusable - typing in a php region within a buffer takes more time than it should to appear on the screen. This only happens inside php regions within the multiple-moded buffer. HTML regions don't have the problem. If the buffer is somewhat large, the problem is exacerbated. Has anyone else seen this problem? Any pointers on how I might track down the cause of the slowness?
I've seen something similiar when editing a Makefile or quitting GNU Emacs -- next version from CVS did perform better!
