How do I install GnusteP????

This is  getting frustrating, I have been able to install GNUstepMake,
by tar.gz yet for all the other gui, base objc I had to revert to using
rpms and to have them install. Yet every GNUstep app wheather be it gorm
or projectcenter or examples all give me a compile error:
cannot exec cc1objc [...lots of stuff here ...] [internal install] error

my gcc version is 2.95.3 on Suse 7.2 and I already have windowmaker
installed and running
I did do ". /usr/GNUstep/System/Makefiles/GNUStep.sh" but still gives me
errors. What can I do I need to be able to install it.
