If you decide to go on with renaming, I'd suggest to recheck with the
FSF lawyers, just in case.

That is not a reason to feel safe. Enemies of freedom (and Apple
undoubtedly is a prominent one) usually choose to attack the most
mature implementation, the one that threatens their market position
most. However, a trademark issue is certainly the weakest attack
vector, and it's very easy to prevent it from happenning... like ...
keeping the names as they are now :-).

These are part of the API, so not a concern.
