(For some reason Don S could not get this e-mail to the mailing list. I'm forwarding it for him.)Wohoo, my first mail to the mailing list. The only thing is that the GNOME Foundation has this programme called 'Friends of GNOME', which is essentially an initiative to make people donate to the project. If people associate Friends of gNewSense with that of raising money for developers, and not a group of volunteers who wish to promote the use and adoption of free software (and in particular gNewSense), it might send the wrong signals to people.
Similar concerns were voiced on IRC. "Friends of $foo" is often an effort to get money from people. I think if we handle it right we could avoid that association.
By the way, there was another suggestion: gNewSensers* As in "The Simpsons", a family around gNewSense; sounds a bit exclusive.
* As in the verb "to (use) gNewSense", they who gNewSense.
