Follow-up Comment #6, patch #9016 (project gnash): According to the docs, gst_install_plugins_async, requires a Glib mainloop, from which I gather that results from any threaded code (assuming one is created) are marshalled to gst_install_plugins_async in a synchronous manner. So that would obviate the need for mutex protection.
