%%full-description: NeDNS is a patched version of BIND 8.2.2p5. The zone file handling and configuration is therefore slightly different. Two additional functions (to automatically convert incoming strings (RENAME) and the resolution of ACE names) are introduced. RENAME essentially glues any multilingual requests to its corresponding ACE formatted name by setting a dynamic alias (CNAME) between the multilingual name to an alphanumeric conversion. There upon, BIND servers will be able to resolve the names accordingly. 

Within the zone file, a 7-bit control character (with code value 0x7F or 127) is used as an identifier for multilingual labels. The example for www.<Chinese in Chinese>.com is therefore represented as: www. \1274E2D6587.com, or during the transition period with local encoding: www.\127A4A4A4E5.com. Other ACE schemes could be used including RACE with its appropriate identifier.  The sample entry for the above example therefore becomes: www.bq--3bhc2zmh.com. A fully DNSII (http://www.DNSII.org) compliant name could also be entered as: \127\127ILET-label.  For example: www.\127\1271000-4E2D6587.com (with ILET for Unicode = 1000).
