Hello Uwe and the other Gnome Commander developers.
Thank you as always for your continued work on this fine program! I
have not been following development a closely as I should and I did not
notice that 1.8.0 was available until I was about to report a couple of
bugs (or annoyances) with 1.6.4.
I have built 1.8.0 and installed it on CentOS 7.4 with no issues except
for the false requirement for unique >= 0.9.3 which is a package which
no longer exists. I commented that out in the .spec file, built and
installed g-c 1.8.0. It seems to run just fine. I posted a request on
the nux forum to have the new version added to the nux-dextop repository
but that has not happened yet.
Then I decided to built an RPM from the source tarball so I could
install g-c on my other computers. Here is what I have accomplished so far:
First try:
----------
error: Failed build dependencies:
unique-devel >= 0.9.3 is needed by
gnome-commander-2:1.8.0-1.el7.centos.x86_64
Commented out in gnome-commander.spec (as I had to do when I did a make
from the source)
#BuildRequires: unique-devel >= 0.9.3
#Requires: unique >= 0.9.3
This has been around for a while but is not really needed as far as I
can tell
* Wed Mar 3 2010 Piotr Eljasiak <address@hidden>
- added unique dependency
Second try:
--------------
RPM build errors:
bogus date in %changelog: Mon Oct 08 2017 Uwe Scholz
<address@hidden>
Directory not found:
/home/ken/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/gnome-commander-1.8.0-1.el7.centos.x86_64/usr/share/gnome/help/gnome-commander
Directory not found:
/home/ken/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/gnome-commander-1.8.0-1.el7.centos.x86_64/usr/share/omf/gnome-commander
I changed the date in gnome-commander.spec and gnome-commander.spec.in
to "Sun Oct 08 2017" - not sure if/why that really caused the build to fail.
Third try:
-----------
RPM build errors:
Directory not found:
/home/ken/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/gnome-commander-1.8.0-1.el7.centos.x86_64/usr/share/gnome/help/gnome-commander
Directory not found:
/home/ken/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/gnome-commander-1.8.0-1.el7.centos.x86_64/usr/share/omf/gnome-commander
These directories are really not present. I find "help" at
/home/ken/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/gnome-commander-1.8.0-1.el7.centos.x86_64/usr/share/help
and I do NOT find a directory "omf" anywhere in the tree under rpmbuild.
I am not sure what to look for or where to look in order to resolve
this. Can you provide me with any guidance?
Thanks again,
Ken Taylor
