The gcmd qsearch sensitiveness depends on 'Options|General|Sorting
options' value. Please uncheck to get it the way you need.

You can get qsearch working this way by switching off the cmdline
visibility. By default, gcmd directs all unhandled keyboard input to the
cmdline and to start qsearching it's necessary to trigger with ALT+char
or CTRL+ALT+char

The gcmd latest code has options: 'Match beginning of the file name' and
'Match end of the file name'. When unchecked they bring required
behaviour.

Hope it'll help,
