In case you haven't yet solved the issue, please create a stand-alone,
command-line program (in C) that outputs its ASCII data to stdout, and
that demonstrates the problem.

Note that the smooth rendering engine computes correct pixel coverages
of the outlines, thus pixel dropouts can't happen.
