Well, your `full hinting' is irritating.  You mean that FreeType's
autohinter makes (if in default mode) the the left stem of `б' far too
fat for 14 and 15 ppem, right?

David?  Perhaps some additional fine tuning is necessary for this
particular glyph.  It's indeed just this single glyph.  Note that the
problem appears with DejaVuSerif.ttf also (I've used the font from the
`dejavu-ttf-2.11.tar.gz' bundle).  BTW, other glyphs (two `t'-like and
one `l'-like shapes from the IPA block) are affected too at 15ppem.
