Just grab the latest CVS. Vincent Caron made it work as of 2002-11-27.
By the way, I don't see builds/unix/configure updated yet, so please make
sure you run "autoconf" in the builds/unix directory, or you'll run into
trouble (e.g. @ZLIB@ not substituted to "-lz" in freetype-configure, etc.)
