Why should it? The kerning values are relative to layout
mode, NOT to transforms. If you are laying out horizontal text, then
it doesn't matter at what angle you draw it at (0, 90, 180, etc.) -
it is still horizontal text.
So the kerning.y is always zero in horizontal layout mode.
Correct - or at least it's not relevant.
