Not directly, because the `wildcard' function is apparently broken in
older GNU make versions.

Alternatives:

. Use makepp (http://LNC.usc.edu/~holt/makepp).

. Compile manually, following the instructions in docs/BUILD.

. The current snapshot also supports `jam', another make tool (but
  with different Makefiles not compatible to standard Make).  The
  special version of jam needed to compile FreeType 2 is available in
  the `jam' CVS module.
