[Dvdrtools-users] Cannot recognise blank DVD: No disk / Wrong disk!

Hello,

I have an external DVD RW drive. When I originally installed it I
succeeded in writing a DVD, but I have changed something and I can no
longer detect blank DVDs. Basically I have been messing around with RPMs
and libraries (updated the kernel to 2.4.20-13.7) to get it working with
xine,gmplayer,ogle,omi, etc.. I can however succesfully detect blank CDs. I am
using cdrecordProDVD 2.01a12-i586-pc-linux-gnu which is the latest (but I
have tried all the older versions as well). I get the same result with
readcd, readcd.clone, dvdrecord, cdrecord (original), and cdrecord.prodvd.
I have tried using all the different DVD drivers with cdrecord.prodvd as
well and always get the same result.

No disk / Wrong disk!

I would be extremely grateful for any help I can get on this. I saw a
similar posting on this list and the problem was solved by using the
mmc_dvd driver but in my case this doesn't help. I know there must be some
way of getting this drive to work because I already burnt one DVD with it.
I don't remember what options I was using the first time, probably just
the default xcdroast options.

Here is an example of what happens with a blank DVD and a blank CD:
