I have been facing this problem for a few months now. First with cdrecord-ProDVD and now I've just tried dvdrtools. I am just trying to write data DVDs for backup purposes.
Here's my system details:

  machine: Dual AMD Athlon 1600+
  ram: 2-gig ECC RAM
  mobo: Tyan Tiger S2460
  disk: hda: 20gig
                 hdb: 80gig
hdc: 'PIONEER ' 'DVD-RW DVR-103 ' '1.65' Removable CD-ROM
                 hdd: 80gig

I've created the iso in a variety of ways and used a variety of parameters on the dvdrecord command and still get this type of error. The latest, for which results
are shown below were done this way:

       mkisofs -R -J -o /m1/dvd/test.iso .
       dvdrecord -v -dao dev=0,0,0 test.iso

The error shown below is writing to a generic DVD-RW but results seem to
be the same writting generic or name-brande DVD-R disks. I just didn't want to
waste too many more DVD-Rs trying to get this to work. The ammount written
and the location of the error changes randomly.
Any ideas?
