*yow* and I just have about 5 years of programming under my belt...
(unless you consider Basic 1.0 as programming) ... and I'll be 21 soon.
So you're in the right age group :- "young, foolish and adventurous" ;)

My advice would be to start by playing around with the framework, get a feel
of all the peices ... When I had joined this project, Portable.net was the
only project opening I had ... But now it's different, we have lots of 
projects. Pick one or any ... Read up on code, analyze stuff , find a couple 
of bugs, attend IRC meetings, submit patches and all that ...

And when you've got a handle on things around here, you can really start 
contributing in bulk (bugs, questions, testing, packaging, documentation etc 
are contributions !).

In short, involve yourself and you'll get involved :)
