Centralized management and dicentralized operations.
Distributed management causes not just maintenance
nightmare but also synchronization problems.
However, my 4 bits on this from practice, the system
deployed and run for 5 years now out in the field. Self-
configurability is needed. Without this capability,
Synchronization of non-centralized data (isolated or
transparent token for auth) is problematic in nature in a
sense that replication will cross all participating
servers or sites which breaks the security and privacy
and will also cause trustworthy concerns.
Load balancing of distributed sites requires a common
sync message (or timing token) locked to a 3rd source
that is independent to all sites in a network. A common
and acceptable resolution is use GPS timing signal
(coarse) with timing internal of 1kHz (which is
adequate) for this purpose.
Self-configurability can be achieved by replacation of
routing table but not user data. The common backend
service covers from layer 3 to layer 7.
This will be added to .VNET spec.
