Hi Josh,
Thank you for your reply. I put these commands in the console. It seems
that there is an error when importing "_gtk". And it is related to
"Cario". I do not know Cario. Is it needed?
address@hidden:/$ python -c "import pygtk; print pygtk"
<module 'pygtk' from '/var/lib/python-support/python2.6/pygtk.pyc'>
address@hidden:/$ python -c "import pygtk; print
pygtk._get_available_versions()"
{'2.0': '/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/gtk-2.0'}
address@hidden:/$ python -c "import gtk; print gtk.pygtk_version"

Its strange since ubuntu relies on pygtk for many of its apps.
What version of ubuntu do you have?
What happens when you run the following commands?
python -c "import pygtk; print pygtk"
python -c "import pygtk; print pygtk._get_available_versions()"
python -c "import gtk; print gtk.pygtk_version"

Hello everyone,
I are am trying to install gnu radio in my Ubuntu Linux. One of the
important tasks is to let grc installed and run properly. After I
followed the instructions on web and installed all the needed
packages, grc is not able to be installed. According to configure
report, Python gtk is not installed correctly (please see the
following information).

I, therefore, manually installed the latest GTK and Python Gtk in the
default directory. However, the problem continues. I used the locate
gtk command. Gtk seems to be installed. I attach configure info as
follows. What has been done wrongly? I am puzzled.
