I'm not an Automake pro either. My head explodes as well
when looking at it...
I think Alex has a good deal more proficiency with it,

I don't know much about automake.

Whenever I look at it my head explodes in pain and I give up.

I'd be really interested in working with someone who could take some
of my Makefile ideas and turn them into a Makefile.am
