Results, as I feared/expected - are the same: tests 510 511 603 604 605 900 and 999 fail regardless of coreutils 8.15 or 8.21

Test 900 fails with gcc 4.7.4 + coreutils 8.15

I shall retry after installing coreutils 8.15 on other system to see if it is related to that.

Hmmm.  I am reluctant to invest debugging effort here until i
understand why the pthread stuff is even necessary for "make".
Let's concentrate on that upstream weirdness first, then return
to "make check" later, OK?
