Yes, that was quite some time ago!

In particular, the version 1.2 can be found here:

You can also clone the entire repository by issuing the following
command:

  git clone git://git.savannah.gnu.org/inetutils.git

Then do a `git checkout inetutils-1_2' to get to the version you
are interested in.

Use `git diff' (or the corresponding cgit functionality in
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/inetutils.git).  It will
show you the changes between any two revisions.

I can't tell for sure, because it happened four years before I
joined the project. But the fact is that Inetutils underwent similar
reorganization several times since then. The last of these was in
version 1.8 (two months ago).
