   gnulib already contains some non-trivial code like argp, *printf,
   regex.  Anyway, I guess it is up to the gnulib maintainers to
   decide.  A question for InetUtils would be whether libreadline
   should be a hard or soft dependency.

These are very GNU specific, readline has been used more by other
projects than argp, GNUish regexps, etc.  And readline compared to
those things is huge (6MiB code).  But you are right, it is up for the
gnulib people to decide, if they include readline, then we will get it
for free anyway.

As for inetutils, it should be a soft dependency.  Unless readline gets
included in gnulib.
