I don't use Mac so I can't give a definitive answer to your question.

However I do know that many people have used PSPP on the Mac in recent years,
and whilst there have been some issues I can't recall that anyone has ever
claimed it to be "very slow", "buggy" or "unusable".  So my guess is that
the problem must lie with your particular circumstances.

Having said that, whilst PSPP does work very well on Mac, it is designed to
work best on GNU/Linux - so if you want the very best performance I would
advise you to use that instead of Mac.

So far as I'm aware all the microprocessors manufactured in the last 30
years are silicon so pspp certainly is compatible with them.
