What happens if you turn off input method support, by evaluating(pgtk-use-im-context nil)? In general, these problems are not with Emacs, but with GTK input method modules, and should be reported totheir developers instead.Emacs never "degrades" to "terminal-compatible" input events when usinga window system. We directly use whatever it reports.
Calling that function restores normal rich events.I’m using Ubuntu 20.04. The distro installs ibus-gtk3 as part of the normal desktop experience, but I haven’t configured it. “im-config” reports that it’s using the default en_US locale.
