Already seen this. I'm inclined to take it with a pound of salt, for several reasons:
- Have you participated in it? I'm a heavy SO user, and I've only found out about it after the results were published. So, a certain amount of bias has to be assumed.
- If the question was "what do you personally prefer", it doesn't necessarily reflect the state of the projects the surveyees are actually working on.
- For all we know, the majority of respondents came from PHP, VB.NET, or some other proprietary platforms which Emacs does not support directly.
Yes, the data also shows that experienced developers do prefer spaces over tabs, but the matter is far from clear.
