bug#3387: 23.0.94; Keyboard macros destroyed by editing

From: Rommerskirchen, Heinrich (NSN - DE/Munich)
Subject: bug#3387: 23.0.94; Keyboard macros destroyed by editing
Date: Tue, 26 May 2009 10:07:29 +0200

Please write in English if possible, because the Emacs maintainers
usually do not have translators to read other languages for them.

Your bug report will be posted to the emacs-pretest-bug@gnu.org mailing
list.

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Slightly complicated macros are lost if you try to edit them. To trigger
this
bug:

Start Emacs: 'emacs -Q'
Start macro recording 'C-x ('
Type: "This is<return>abc<up><end-of-line> a Test<down><return>"
End macro recording: 'C-x )'
You may check that the macro was recorded correctly (not necessary to
trigger the bug) 'F4'
Edit the macro 'C-x C-k C-e'
Change the 'is' to 'was'
Finish the editing 'C-c C-c'
'F4' or 'C-x C-k C-e' shows that the macro has lost most of its content,
it only contains
  "<up><down>RET"
If you omit the unnecessary cursor movements from the macro above, it
doesn't show this error

   Regards
      Heinz

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
If you would like to further debug the crash, please read the file
d:/bin/emacs/etc/DEBUG for instructions.
