emacs -Q -nw
M-x server-start RET

M-x compile RET RET


now in another terminal:

emacsclient -c

in the X11 frame that gets created: 

M-x compile RET RET

now switch to the *compilation* buffer

the tool-bar is completely empty.

At this point, doing:

M-x grep RET

will throw an error:

Wrong type argument: keymapp, nil
