Okay

i just discovered how to quote a filename.. :).. but the following bug
in dired still remains: Let tmp: be the name of a directory in
/. Then:

> We do a C-x d on / and list its contents.. then we go to tmp:/ and

In other words, if quoting (via /:) is the right way to access /tmp:,
then dired/emacs should know this itself, and dired should perhaps
display the file as quoted in the first place so that it can follow
the path correctly..  Or even if dired chooses not to display it in a
quoted form, atleast it should be internally so configured that the
path gets followed correctly upon hitting RET.
