and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Emacs crash when I visit some animated gif

>From dired with (auto-image-file-mode t) AND from elisp with 
(insert-image (create-image "quebecani.gif" 'gif))

It do not crash on "fixed" gif and not on every animated gif)
One that do make emacs is include below.
